About Dave

Photography has been part of Dave Nicholson's life since he was a young man living in Scotland. What began as a hobby grew into a lifelong passion, one that followed him back to Canada and continues to inspire him every time he heads outdoors with a camera in hand.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, educated in Scotland, and having spent time in Yellowknife before settling in Victoria, Dave has always been drawn to the natural world. Today, much of his work focuses on the rugged beauty of Vancouver Island and the West Coast — from dramatic coastlines and working boats to eagles, herons, whales, and the ever-changing light over the Pacific Ocean.

Dave's photography is less about chasing the perfect shot and more about capturing the moments that make a place special. Whether he's exploring a quiet beach at sunrise or watching wildlife from a coastal viewpoint, his goal is to share the beauty and wonder he experiences through his lens.

His photographs have appeared in local tourism publications and can be found displayed in businesses and homes throughout the region. When he's not out photographing, chances are he's already planning his next adventure — camera close at hand, ready for whatever nature presents.
